Five Thirty Five Ltd are a family run business that we set up to provide good quality affordable maternity and nursery products, soon after we had our first baby, in 2003.

We believe that nursery and maternity goods should be affordable, and that all too often the high street stores take advantage of a new parent's natural desire to buy the best for their baby, and can sometimes charge a little too much for the goods that they sell.

We buy in large quantities direct from the manufacturer and store the goods in a secure warehouse, using a high speed/low cost pick and pack service to ensure that the goods are available at the best prices for you.

We stock an ever growing range of baby and maternity products, including Maternity TENS Machines, Tummy Tubs, Cots, Cotbeds and Cribs, Moses Baskets, Glider and Nursing Chairs, Baby Bedding, Cot and Cotbed Mattresses, Buggies and Buggy Boards .....pretty much 'Everything But The Baby' in fact.

We don't believe in paying more than something is worth, just because it happens to be for the nursery and neither should you !

'good quality doesn't have to be expensive'

We weren't sure where to stick this so we've stuck it here!

                    W.E.E.E. Compliance Statement

The government appointed a body of people who have threatened court and fines if we don't include this information on our website.

We have been encouraged to join a WEEE scheme, for which we have to pay a substantial sum of money, which goes to the local council.

The government and local council already get enough of my money and they already get enough of yours, through VAT, Council Tax, Corporation Tax, Income Tax etc and we do not want to have to raise our prices to cover this, and so we haven't joined the scheme, but I think we are WEEE compliant anyway, by including the following that no-one will ever read.

Most of it is cut and paste from elsewhere, and so apologies for the lack of care over how this looks, but I don't actually care how it looks.

I hasten to add that the following is included on our website for no other reason than it is a legal requirement that we do so.

It won't win any prizes from the 'plain English society' I assure you, and if there is any grass growing nearby, watching that might me more interesting than reading this.

                    Here we go then...

I have to tell you, under 'regulation 33', that:

There is a requirement on each member state under article 2 of the directive to minimise the disposal of WEEE as unsorted municipal waste and to achieve a high level of collection of WEEE for treatment, recovery and environmentally sound disposal.

                    Exciting stuff eh?

If you liked that, you'll love this...

                    What is WEEE?

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is a European Community directive that became European Law in February 2003 and took effect August 13, 2005. Its intent is to reduce the amount of electrical and electronic products that end up in the waste stream. The directive sets collection, recovery, and recycling targets for all types of electrical goods sold in the European Union.

                    Does this impact me?

As of August 13, 2005, electrical equipment sold in Europe must be disposed of in accordance with WEEE. According to the directive, only equipment purchased after this date must be recycled.
Note that in some countries the laws regarding WEEE are still being drafted or have not yet been tested by regulatory authorities.

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is the fastest growing waste stream in the UK, growing by at least 5% each year. We dispose of over 1.2 million tonnes of electrical and electronic waste every year in the UK from the public alone, an amount that would fill the new Wembley 6 times over every year! The average UK citizen will discard of 3.3 tonnes of WEEE in a life time – equal to one Double Decker bus for each and every family. Electronic waste is increasing three times faster than average municipal waste and the EU estimates that WEEE currently accounts for 4% of total waste.

Much of the UK's electronic waste ends up in landfill sites, where toxins put communities at risk. Failure to segregate any type of recyclable material in the home will usually result in items being disposed of in a landfill site (buried in the ground in the UK) or being incinerated. It has been estimated that landfill space in the UK will run out within the next 10 years. Recycling WEEE will have significant effects on the environment.

Where WEEE is not recycled, this waste can have negative impacts on soil, air and water quality which can lead to environmental damage, and which can also lead to negative impacts on human health and animal health.

I have to explain what this symbol means  (for the terminally slow witted amongst you who couldn't work it out for yourselves)

You should be aware that all new EEE should be marked with the WEEE Directive's crossed out wheeled bin symbol either on their products or packaging. This symbol aims to encourage you to separate your WEEE and to discard it separately from other household waste.

The crossed out wheeled bin symbol is not intended to indicate to you that WEEE is banned from being disposed of as general waste. Moreover, the intention behind the symbol is that, when coupled with information supplied by distributors as to the availability of recycling facilities, you will be reminded that these facilities exist throughout the UK.

Since 13 August 2005 producers are required by UK law to ensure that the crossed out wheeled bin symbol is printed in a visible, legible and indelible form on the product itself, except for in exceptional cases where this is not possible because of the size or function of the product. In such cases, the symbol must be printed on the packaging, the instructions for use and the accompanying warranty (where applicable).

Collection and Take Back of WEEE products.

Five Thirty Five Ltd are obliged under these regulations to offer our customers free take-back of their WEEE on a like for like basis when you buy from us a new Electrical or Electronic product.

We will take responsibility for the correct storage and transportation of said WEEE to a recognised WEEE disposal site. Five Thirty Five Ltd will, because we have to, cover the cost of the correct disposal and storage prior to disposal of said items.

All returns must be agreed and arranged with Five Thirty Five Ltd prior to dispatch.

                    Our contribution

By doing this we are contributing to the re-use, recycling and other forms of recovery of WEEE under these regulations. (Apparently)

                    Potential Hazardous Effects

We are told that there are lots of these (potential hazardous effects) on the environment and human health as a result of the presence of hazardous substances in EEE

Well, there you go...those of you that got this far, give yourself a pat on the back .

                    In short :

Electrical stuff might have some bad things in it so it needs to be disposed of properly.

TENS Machines and Pelvis Floor Stimulators are electrical, so who knows ?

If you bought one of those, or anything else that could be described as 'E.E.E.'('Electrical and Electronic Equipment') from us, then when you get rid of it, it becomes 'W.E.E.E.' (the 'W' stands for 'waste', the rest you can guess at) and it therefore needs to be disposed of correctly.

You could do this yourself, but if you'd rather not, then contact us, as we have to get rid of it for you, in the correct way. Which we will do, and we won't charge you for it.

                    Bye for now.

                    James
